What the heck is going on over there in China? First it was tainted toothpaste and pet food; then it was high levels of lead in paint found in toys shipped to Mattel. Now it’s now dirty chopsticks.

According to a story by Reuters, “a Beijing factory sold up to 100,000 pairs of disposable chopsticks a day without any form of disinfection, a newspaper said on Wednesday, the latest in a string of food and product safety scares.

Counterfeit, shoddy and dangerous products are widespread in China whose exports have been rocked in recent months by a spate of safety scandals, ranging from pet food to medicine, tires, toothpaste and toys.”

A few years ago here in Korea, some fish merchants found steel bolts and nuts in fish from China to make the fish weigh more.

Yeah, what the heck is going on over there in China?
