I was almost afraid that I might have missed this photo this year when I was off traveling in Thailand and Laos last month.

That’s right, every summer for the past 17 years you could always count on a photo like this one appearing in newspapers in Korea.

“More than 600,000 beach goers pack onto Haeundae Beach in Busan yesterday to cool off in the sea. The heat wave lingered, sending temperatures soaring.”

How on earth could anyone even begin to enjoy themselves on a beach like this? I would be so afraid of getting lost if I went there with friends. What’s even weirder is that I have from a reliable source that there are other decent beaches not far away that are not that crowded. However, most people don’t go to them because they are not as famous as Haeundae.

What’s even weirder, if you take a closer look at this photo, most of the people are just standing on the beach.
