This coming week I will be moving into a larger and more modern apartment not far from where I am living now and in two weeks I will be starting a new position here at Woosong.

It’s been almost six months since I first arrived here in Daejeon and one might wonder if I am planning on staying here longer now that I am moving into better housing and that I have this better teaching position.

The jury is still out on that one. After all, it was always my intention once I came back to Korea to get back to Seoul and have the quality of life that I was used to when I was here before. That’s always been the plan and one that I am sticking to.

In the meantime, I have six months left on my contract here and I am making the most out of the time I am here. It hasn’t really been rough living and teaching in Daejeon—although I have kept a pretty low profile. The teaching has been easy (although there was a bit of a learning curve for me in the beginning getting used to my new surroundings and a new language program) and I have enjoyed teaching some pretty cool classes.

I was fortunate the first six months that I was here to get away on three occasions which made living here a little more bearable (even though it put me in the hole a little financially). Now, I have one more mini-vacation coming up next month that will have to tide me over until January/February (which I expect to be extremely rough given how much I am missing On).

So, a new apartment, a new position (I will be teaching only English majors), and a mini-vacation next month with On. That’s a lot to look forward to. We’ll just have to wait and see come next March whether or not I am still in Daejeon or if I am able to get back to Seoul.
