A Writer's Life

One-Third Korea Redux

Woke up this morning thinking, “wow, I have been back here in Korea for eight months already.”

The days, weeks, and months keep on adding up.

Soon, this semester will be over and then what?

Sorting out my life and planning my next moves. Where do I want to be one year from now? Where do I want to be four months from now?

Called home last night and told my mom that I won’t be able to come home for Christmas this year. She wasn’t too happy about that. This will be the first Christmas since 2001 that I haven’t gone home and the first one since 1991 that I will spend alone. Back in 1991 everything was so different in Korea. It was still exciting just to be here. It was a time when anything and everything was still possible.

Getting cooler and cooler at night. This morning the temperature was down to a brisk and chilly 46. That’s the one plus these days, I love this time of the year here.

  1. Well, Jeffrey, I will go back to Vietnam as soon as we finish this semester. If you are going to somewhere, how about Vietnam, a developing country, nice people, easy life and warm country with beaches and sunlight everywhere…?

Hope you were okay with the toothache…
