Titty Twisters

In what has to be one of the weirdest stories I’ve read in one of Korea’s English language newspapers (and believe me I’ve read a lot in the 17+ years that I have been in Korea), it was reported recently that “squeezing a person’s nipple or hitting their genitals with the back of one’s hand does not constitute sexual harassment if the incident took place in military barracks.”

Now I have heard of some real nasty stuff being done to recruits in the military (here in Korea), but giving them titty twisters and slapping their genitals is just too weird. I guess as long as it is done in the barracks it is okay, but outside it is a no-no and constitutes sexual harassment. It should be noted that this nipple squeezing was done to male soldiers, which makes it all the more bizarre.

I am just having a hard time trying to picture some sergeant or officer swatting the genitals of a soldier. Is this done privately (which makes it more bizarre and perverted) or in the front of other soldiers?

What happened to “get down and give me one hundred push-ups you no-good for nothing excuse for a slug?” Or having to clean the latrine with a toothbrush?

According to the article, “a captain was last year indicted for squeezing the nipples of a corporal and two other subordinates and also hitting their genitals with the back of his hand.” He was also charged with kicking their shins, ordering them to lay prostrate on their fists, and forcing them to shine their boots. Gee, he even made them shine his boots. Now, that is tough. Guess he wasn’t much of an officer or a gentleman; more like an officer and a pervert.

And you thought the recruits in Full Metal Jacket had it bad.

  1. Oh man I feel queasy just reading that post..

Why is it that every time a guy sees (or in this case, reads) about getting tapped in the package he cringes, but the ladies always seem to get a good chuckle out of it? Looks like I wont be joining the Korean army anytime soon, thats for sure!
